Bike ID And Input Please!

Heading out the 28th of this month to dig up more bikes. This pic was sent to me because the fellow is wanting to sell the bike. The pic is average and has stuff hanging around the bike. The old timer is telling me the bike is a Schwinn, in my opinion, can't be. To me it looks like a 38-42 Elgin short tanker. While it looks complete and original, it also looks repainted with something (name) painted on the chain guard. Please all input would be apprieciated, I like going out with as much info as possible.

Looks like a post-war Murray built "Standard Equipped" JC Higgins ~1947-1948.
Headlight looks to be more recent than the bike, rack looks like a ~1950s replacement.

I must admit I didn't think of the JC Higgins tankers. Food for thought, it does look very similar to the drawings.

Just now pulled into the driveway, after my day adventure. The bike is now mine! I am very pleased with the bike, it is all original except for one pedal. Once I get it cleaned up this week, I will post some pics.
