The steering tube on the threaded fork of my 1912 Iver Johnson broke in the center. It had been repaired before—likely a long time ago as it was "fixed" with two spot brazings of brass—and broke at those spots. I wonder if it had been on a taller frame bike and someone took the weird decision to cut a chunk out of the center rather than cut it shorter and go at the end with a threaded die. Anyway, I'd like to find someone locally to fix it (or find a nickel plate Iver fork with good condition plating!). It shouldn't be too difficult, I imagine.
