Brake levers removal

Hi, guys. I am going to make some slight changes to my wife's bike - handlebars, rear tire, pedals. The bike has these brake levers installed:

I never had those. What are they called and how do I remove them? I will probably have to install them again as well.
 
If the fastener isn't obvious, then it's probably concealed inside the boot/base of the lever. That is a very common practice on road bike levers. Retract the lever and peer down inside, beyond the cable itself. You should be able to fish a narrow screwdriver or allen key (whichever is appropriate) through the gap, loosen the anchor bolt, and slide the assembly off the end of the handlebar. Of course, you will need to remove the grip first.
