I don't understand why people (would) want to. What's the point?

I had a BMX bike with no brakes. It was insane. I would have to jam my foot in the fork against the tire to slow it down. And obviously, on dry days, the friction would be too great and cause me to go overboard. This was when I was 15. I'm now 17 and a tad more smarter.

DANGEROUS! Don't do it!!!

last summer i took sissy for a ride. BIG hill close to the bottom she decided to test the freshly tuned up bmx brakes.
the bike i was on had no brakes so leaned back and jammed my foot in the front fork pressing my foot on the tire.
well i guess i my panic i jammed my foot in really good because it didn't come out till i came to a screeching stop on my side next to sissy with her asking "what are you doing" :x kids i tell ya

A guy I've been working with for a few years has a brake-less bike hanging in his garage. You'd think for the couple grand he put into it, he'd get something more than tiny glue-ons and a "Paramount" label on the top tube. :p

My nephew has a bmx with no brakes and I ask him " Why....Why would you TAKE the brakes off of your bike"... his response.." It makes it lighter" . Your kidding right? Kids

You always have brakes, they are sometimes less mechanical. On an old bike with just rear side pull brake, one of the brake pads fell off, leaving me without the usual brakes. I stuck the end of my shoe just behind the kickstand between the frame and rear tire, locking it up and skidded to a stop.

You can also throw bigger bar spins and there's less stuff to break when you ditch your bike mid-air.

I haven't had a bike with brakes for years... good collection of shin-scars though...

It all started with a BMX when i was about 14... took a bail under a car and bent the bars, 3days and some new bars later I couldn't get the brakes to work properly again (granted I should've tried for longer than 5 minutes...) and have been brakeless ever since... up until my recently sold brakeless racing BMX and newly-brakeless roadie :D

And i think the best way to stop is jam a foot against the floor just infront of your pedal and use the pedal and other foot to brace it all stiff, could stop better that way than my friend with his fancy-schmancy disk braked MTB... but his shoes lasted longer... and he never went over the top with a foot wedged under the fork crown :p
