Picked up this neat BSA Paratrooper today. From what I’m seeing online it’s pretty original. It even smells like old military gear.

The thing that surprised me most about this bike is how small and light it is. It doesn't help that I stood it next to my fourteen year old's 23" tall Rockhopper.

BSA kept the frame till the 50s issued a non folding version and sold them as kids bikes

There was a factory in town in the 40s making mustard gas. The only people it was used on were Canadian troops in training. The land is still completely unusable.

There is a NOS non-folder that has been on eBay for ~couple years. I've made offers on it twice...we've been close, but not close enough.

What an original would look like (these are civilian models)...

Original or restored folders (military) tend to go in the $1800-2800 range.

I couldn't, that's for sure. To me, that auto supply label is gold. How the heck does that survive?

The tag would be saved...the paper trashed...and the frame?

Klunker'd! We'll...at least urban klunk'd, I don't think it will take very meaty tires.

It's a bike, dudes...it's made to be ridden!

(or just finish it off with Raleigh, or BSA, 3spd roadster parts...that is basically how the civilian version was equipped)

The BMX version...

...this 'unrelated' obscure piece of BMX history (Phazer BMX) is why I fell for the BSA bike so hard, the BSA looks like the grownup version of one of these .
