After completing my Steyr build I was pretty pumped to jump onto the next one... (Steyr build: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=66392&p=640870&hilit=steyr#p638018)
Another of the 3 gifted bikes, a mid-late 70' Raleigh Record Ace Mixte. It's really in pretty great shape except for the wheels (which were actually from the Steyr I think). The paint has great lustre, and most of the decals are in good shape. since it's a Record Ace, it has nice alloy components too. Even the original white cable housing are nice enough I'm going to keep them.
I took the other set of wheels (Rigidas) and rebuilt the hubs and threw on some Gatorskins I had laying around from a buddy.
Then I went a got a few goodies from one of the LBS's.
-Velo Orange hammered 45mm fenders
-Velo Orange Montmartre handlebars
-Velo Orange city levers
-Wald 137 Basket
-Dimension Cork grips
Left on the list
-add some lacquered wood slats to the bottom of the basket and shellac the cork grips to match
-add brake pads
-add new cable to work with the city levers
-shorten the fork legs for the basket for a clean level fit
I'm pretty stoked on this bike and if it weren't so ...... small I'd probably ride it around for a bit...
