"building" a loser

LOL, so that rootbeer colored Huffy Premier went on sale at Walmart. Complete bike for $79!
I bought it... Put the Huffy seat and grips on the schwinn collegiate (because that frame is just small for me) and put my brooks saddle and grips on the Huffy... Came out Great!

Now I need to remove some decals off the frame and find a good replacement for the pedals and the front and rear "lights" I'd like to find proper lights so I can ditch the reflectors.

Got 1 on order today. Looks to be fun to build. What did you think of the original seat? Did you assemble it yourself, or buy assembled?

Make sure the front tire is pointed in correct direction.
There is an arrow on sidewall.

I never even sat on the original seat or held on to the original grips. They came off immediately as I built it. Yes, I assembled it myself.
The original grips are much like the Brooks grips surprisingly. The seat is well enough made but I had the brooks gear eager to go on something...

Not bad,I have ridden mine, over 300 miles now.

Got my "Premier" today looks like Fed Ex got it to me in good condition. Seems wierd to be changing a brand new bike around but I do think with mods it will be much improved. Pretty much got it free considering freight must be worth what I paid for it. Maybe someone should start a show us your Huffy Premier thread....

As bike builders, man you guys are just so lucky living in the US! $79?!!! What a steal! We would be paying 3x as much for a complete bike of that quality here. Btw, the bike in my avatar uses a Chinese frame as well

I know! I was watching these bikes on RRB and the Wally world website for a while, then a couple of days ago a internet ad pops up $79!
Starting building it today, man all the bearings are so tight! gonna have to pull 'em apart and make sure there is grease!
