Hey guys,

So, I'm on lunch break now and I've had a busy, busy life as of late. I'll soon get around to building up a new rat rod. It is a 1960 AMC, built by Huffman. It has all the PERFECT patina. It is laden with 1960's and late 70's pinstripes, decals, even a skull on the front fender that resembles the front of ZZ Top's 1979 "Deguello" album cover:

The red, white, and gold paint, peaked fenders, rust and fading, the complete "time capsule look" look. I imagine this bike being the fast, nasty rat that you can't take home to mother. I want to set the original wheels aside and build up a set of aluminum or stainless drop centers, with one of them fancy Nexus hubs. I want a multi-speed bike without all the deraileurs ruining the look of my bike. The shifter? I want a long shifter, RAT FINK STYLE, mounted to the down tube of the bike, with the ever-popular 8 ball as a knob. I want the shifter to be chrome, with a classic look. Any ideas on what to go get for this shifter that I have cooked up in my head?

The rest of my plans:

Remove old house paint from chain guard
Seat swap
Handlebar Swap
Cream tires on new rims
Ditch old headlight, install ratty light with LED guts on front fender (covers those nasty holes!)
New pedals (may go with bow pedals or redline pedals)
Ditch old generator light
Clean and polish chrome, bring back color in paint.
Can I work a springer in here somehow?

Here is my bike now:

"Bonneville or Bust" Maybe I can run with a Bonneville Salt Flats theme?

Good bike to start with Sweet bars!
I'll sell you the bars if you want them. They kill the look of the bike
