Since last year I have been interested in building e-bikes, actually I built one last year using Schwinn 2014 cruiser.
Somehow I posted it under gas-powered forum LOL, you can see it here--->http://www.ratrodbikes.com/forum/index.php?threads/2014-schwinn-super-dx-with-motor.86886/
After building that one I pretty much enjoyed the fun of riding an e-bike, but I wanted something more cooler if you know what I mean.
So I went for a new frame shopping, wanted to build using Basman frame but they won't ship to where I live, instead I found something similar to Basman but with crooked frame, you can see the difference underneath.
It came with 24inch by 3 inch rims and tires, single speed with disk brakes.
Anyhow I got the bike and drew some schematics to cover low-bottm, I thought I would install battery underneath but it became a speaker box later on.
I kinda liked number 2 look, so I started making a little round box that could go under the lower frame.
At first I just wanted to use the space as a little cargo box, but as I started making the box, this idea just popped up in my head, how about turning it into speaker box!!
That's the moment this poject started lingering for months!
Oh what the hell, I ended up with dismantling a set of 6 ohm Sony desktop speakers.
Doesn't look that bad does it? LOL
While I was building the speaker box, the other parts were delivered and I had to order little amplifier board with Bluetooth4.0.
Wheel building with 48v 350w motor was a pain in the ..., but I was able to lace the wheel with less than 2mm off.
If you want to lace a wheel, might want to consider buying a wheel-building jig. I did it on my bike stand. LOL.
I used a calipher for truing the wheel...
This is the little amplifier I mentioned..., 40w each, it will amplify sound for sure.
After assembling most of the parts I took it out for a test ride, I wanted to check how well it ran and sounded.
Not bad at all~~
Okay, now I had to find a way to store controller and amplifier and dc converter...,
I ended up making another box under top frame, and of course another crazy idea popped up again, how about turning that box into another speaker box.
Eventually I ordered Sony car speakers and turn them into BOOMBOX.
So the top boom box stores a set of speakers, controller, dc converter and amplifier with a fan underneath.
I still don't have any idea what to do with all the wires!
I took it out for another test ride.
The project has not been finished yet, have to add eccentric color part here and there which will be metalic green, and change the amplifier to a version with bass and treble control, and adding LED button for power, healight and amp power.
It runs around 32km/h on 48v 10Ah battery with throttle only, runs 35 with pedaling, not bad for a front motor and with weight(27kg?)
The bike is now disassembled for a fine tuning and other wirings. As the project continues I will post it here.
Happy building and riding!
