Late start but I wanna play! Hurt myself and was out of work for a month, just got cleared to go back yesterday. I’ve been watching and it looks like I’ve got some catching up to do! I’ve had this 1930-something Shelby with a Cadillac badge for a few years now, bought it as a frame, fork and crank and threw some parts on it so I could ride it, but always wanted to put it together with more period correct parts

Since that picture was taken, the wheels were swiped for my green CWC, the pedals are in the parts pile, and the tires, kickstand, seat, stem, bars and grips are on my Elgin from a couple of build offs ago

Now I’m back where I started with a frame, fork and crank, a cellar full of parts and a swap meet on Sunday

I started digging out some of the parts I want to use, I’ve tried for a few years to find matching fenders with no luck but I do have these deep, blue ones, maybe monarch? Not sure.

I’m not thrilled with the plain braces so I’m gonna try to use these flat ones from these old Columbia fenders

and probably this horn/headlight thingy too

here’s a quick test fit to show the color combination, I want to leave the original paint on all this stuff, beautiful thing about a rat is that it doesn’t matter if the colors match

But seriously, that is one of my all time favorite frames, and to be badged Cadillac is just amazing. Funny that Cadillac LaSalle was one company, yet Shelby licensed Cadillac While Schwinn did the LaSalle (my entry is a ‘40).

I missed you at the swap last Sunday. I brought a bike and rode it around with painters tape on the seat that read "for sale". A guy stalked me and bought it. Bonus! One bike sold, three or four more to go.

I'm not positive, but those fenders have more of a Shelby vibe, than Monark.

Yeah, with those darts and that reflector, those are Shelby fenders.

Started taking some parts apart today, I’ve still got to remove some dents, and rivet these together but this is an idea of how the fenders will look with the flat braces

and I want to try to find a lens for this light, it says delta electric something something on it, can’t read the rest and haven’t decided yet if I’m gonna try to clean it…

There used to be a guy on the CABE that repopped those lens. Check the For Sale area over there or post a Wanted thread, someone will have one

i just kinda eyeball the quantity, then cover with water
