Greyhound???

Go to shipgreyhound.com and you can get an estimated price as long as you have the weight and dimensions. Most Greyhound locations even sell bike boxes. The local stations here sells them for $10.

I always used FedEx, though it's been awhile since i've shipped anything. The key is making sure your box is under the size limit for regular rates! I think it's around 88". I've recieved bikes in boxes that have been cut down to size, since the next level of pricing for oversize is like an extra $40 if I remember. ~Adam

there is no getting around it, its just so expensive to ship whole bikes. id have some of my old 3speeds sold, if i wasn't in norhtern california and all the bikes on them on the east coast (one in so cal). i've heard greyhound is the cheapest, but not sure exactly how that works. do i put a wig and a dress on the bike, give it a handbag and put it on the bus? hahah, just kidding, but the visual was just too funny not to mention.

the big ones mostly get you on exceeding a certain size dimension, so perhaps its cheaper to break it down enough not to fall into the oversized catagory. good luck!

The LBS might have bike boxes, already broken down but usuable. I put 6 of my bikes when I moved in those by dismantling and using a lot of bubble wrap. That might save you a little.

I found this on the internet:
"Amtrak also has a service that takes bikes, Package Express (800-377-6914). A bit erratic, it may be worth looking into if you live along one of their routes. Greyhound, too, has a Package Express (800-231-2222), but if you're willing to send your bike away, alone on a bus, you may as well duck tape it to the roof of a passing car and hope it magically arrives at you destination."

Thanks all, I will figure it out somehow, not many options around here.USPS, UPS maybe FedEX or maybe I could biuld a catapult?
