Just did this for a fat bike that runs a 1 1/8th threaded fork, but the owner wanted to run a BMX style threadless stem.
Started out with the standard stem, I have these in steel and alloy and every one that has the flare to bigger tube at the top measures out to 1 1/8th OD.
Simply cut off the clamp part and clean up the remainder:
Fit up your BMX stem to your new converter:
Nice easy conversion!
