Since i started collecting old bikes a few years ago ive found it easy to pick what projects i take on and which projects i pass along and let someone else have a go at. but now, ive got a bunch of really cool projects and i dont know where to start!

so lets begin - i picked up this hiawatha from a guy who got it from his elderly neighbor

its 100% complete and its the closest that ill come to owning a cwc roadmaster. its housepainted red and i really dont plan on doing anything custom to it aside from maybe a 3 speed hub for better rideability. my plan for this bike is to make a monark holiday if cwc was to ever make one.

the second option is my wards hawthorne duralum

i have this bike completely torn down now and my plan is to get some nice 26 inchers, fenders and a springer - this might be my rrbo bike

the third option is this 41 elgin

ive got a few ideas for it. either a off road style motorbike or a skinny tire cruiser. ideas?

and finally we have my latest bike and newest bike, a 2005 felt little b@stard. i got it from another forum member, and out of the box i noticed it was missing its headlight and the rear hub was broken. oh well.
here is how it was:

here it is now.

not sure if im feeling the bars, but i have to get the hub fixed before i can even take it for a ride to find out how it feels.

so there are my projects, what do you guys think?

Danny,

I think I need that 26" monarch silver king to make a klunker out of!

That thing would snap in half paul! thats why i bought that felt, i thought it would be strong! im tired of being rational with that felt, im going to weld that sprocket on.

Some felt bars would look good chopped down a bit. As for the Hub, find some replacement parts including a new snap ring and swap the guts out.

Then it's forever, hopefully it won't break.

Well at least now I know where the Girvin forks ended up . Sure wish I could have gotten to them first. They would have looked killer on my last build and moved the wheel out forward too. You ought to take a can of oven cleaner and spray that red bike and see what color it really was underneath. It will take off all the house paint and leave what came on it.

i give the hawthorne love every day - in the form of about 15 minutes of polishing wheel action!

in other news - i got those felt bars - but im going to have to change the stem out to get the to fit! this is my first bike with a threadless headset and fork, and i must say that threaded = better in every way. there is no room for adjustment with these silly things.

also: i had a great ride this morning on my pizza cutter

I also bought a beautifully original jc higgins jet flow from slacker by way of theflyingdingo - long story, but i know both of these guys didnt want to see this bike go, but i assure you, im collecting hardware and other misc to put this bad boy together right.
