got a chrome question
i've cleaned and polished lots of chrome in the past
and had real good luck
on my bikes if the rust starts to pop back i just keep after it
no big deal for me
but Sam's bike(one of my current builds) will be at college
probley will get left out in the rain once in a while
are their any good methods for sealing the chrome???
i'd really like for this bike to look as good in 2 or 3 years
as it will when i'm done with it
would clear coating the chrome be an option???

well............clearing it would probably work but for it to stick itd need sanded first(thatd kill the shine)
what id do would be just wax it every 6 months or so(regular car wax)

I have a Murry springer fork that had a problem with the original chrome coating flaking off. It also had some rust. I took the steel wool to it in an attempt to clean it. I wound up taking off most of the coating. I waxed it, but decided that would not do. I cleaned the wax and sprayed some clear coat on it today. It will be going on a project soon, so I will see how it holds up. I figure it's sealed up, but I don't know if the rust will grow under the clear...it will suck if it does. Fenders and stuff I've been using car wax on.

wax it, itll need it at least every spring to keep rust at a minimum or ya gotta break the toothbrush out again

thanks for the advice
i though that wax was about my only option
but then again
i was hoping someone would have the magic cure
once again thanks
