There needs to be a classic 3 speed thread for all makes since I have some from the late '30s through to the late '70s. Anybody second that motion?

I like it. And I’ll second the suggestion for a classic three speed thread.
Motion approved.

Hub has sat untouched for 40 plus years. Anyone want to rebuild it for me?

...which due to some unfortunate knob design choices looks completely phallic. Tried stock, painted or knob turned around to try to make it look less so and it still completely looking so, like this example above. The grabbing Sachs joke got old quickly. So I’m going with a Screamer knob instead.

Early 60's Raleigh, originally black and all rusty. 3 speed with coaster brake. I had planned on using it as my ride to work bike, 3 miles daily, but my neighbor wanted it badly so it was sold.

Early 60's Sears, made in Austria. Bought for 8 bucks at the thrift store in Grand Forks, ND. The 3 speed hub looked like a SA but was made in Germany.

My WestPac bike, a 60's Hercules with SA 3 speed with coaster brake I took with me on The Big E for the 82/83 cruise when I was in the Navy. I rode it in Philippines, Hawaii, Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Australia. This pic is Nov 1982.

Shimano 3CC that I rode for years with no problem. Twist grip shifter with cable run through the tank.

Sachs 3 speed with coaster brake on a 65 Continental. The smoothest hub of all I've used.

3 speed SA with coaster on a hd wheel from an 80's Emory on my 53 CWC custom.
