cleaning up chrome

how does one go about it? :shock:

i use a brass bristled brush and a mixture of "bar keepers friend" and water.

and a good bit of elbow grease.......

wd-40 works well too, but still use a brass bristled brush.

they also sell brass brush attachments to go in grinders and drills.

the trick with those is to use low RPMs.

i will not use brillo pads.
i will not use steel wool.

they both will dull the shine of chrome.

do you clearcoat it after youve cleaned it to keep the rust from coming back?

give it a good coat of wax(automotive) after cleaning and youll be good to go for about a year(then just rewax)

My friend runs a LBS I go to. He makes and sells his own rust remover at car and bike shows. Maybe give it a look.
