do u guys wet sand between clear coats? i cleared some forks ..i wet sanded b4 ..put one coat of clear on and they were dull ...i cleared the chain guard with out wet sanding ...it looks good ? i dont get it ...

are you talking about texture ? i always have an easier time painting a flat surface like a chainguard than i do with tubular stuff like frames and tube forks.

Sometimes you don't get as even or as thick of a spray on the tubes than on something flat. You could try buffing it out to get any overspray off, sometimes that can make all the difference.

Not sure of the clear that you are using or if you are using a gun or rattle can, but on the cars and other items I have done, unless you screwed up the base color, just clear over the top without sanding. That is just what I have done and wet sand the clear.

I do the same thing. As long as the base is even, wet sanding will usually just make it uneven. I clear over the unsanded base, then wetsand between clearcoats. And even that depends on how the clear goes on. If the paint booth is clean, and no dust settles in the clear, then I don't sand. I just finish a couple coats, let it cure for a long time, then polish with rubbing compound.
