ok i know coast king is a very frowned upon brand as their basically a huffy but does anyone know about these?
i have a 1970 coast king ladies 5 speed that's exceptionally clean and in good shape minus decals being scraped.
from what i gathered online they were built for the coast to coast department stores back in the day.
this is my first coast king i owned.
basically im wondering if its worth holding onto or should i harvest its part as the parts are extremely clean and in good shape.
even the inner fenders and seat post are clean and rust free!
messinger seat has 1 small rip on the bottom its not even noticeable.
wheels are in good shape.
tires good original thin whitewalls.
shifter is good brakes are good and work regressed the bearings and tuned it a bit .
cables are gonna need replaced.
it even came with a basket on the front i think its wald or something like that
so i need opinions about these lol

i know the mens 10 speed coast king form the 70's had a faulty crank but this model wasn't affected.
thanks for any info and ill post pics soon if anyones curious
thanks again

No reason to frown on any bike. They are all good for riding.

The parts may be good to transfer over to another frame or it may be best to sell the bike and put your money into another project.

heya clancy
thanks yeah im not really frowning on it i actually like it its just not a collectors bike
but yeah its an amazingly clean bike i did very little to get her like she is and i like riding her besides the fact its a girls bicycle
i have some pics im gonna be uploading as we speak
thanks

here she is next to my wife's amf super 10
i forgot to add i bought this bike and 2 other bikes for 25 bucks and sold one for 35 bucks
so basically i made all my money invested back on this
im not sure what to do with her just yet but at the moment she is in my shop all ready to ride

My biggest issue with some of the 70's cheapo bikes are as follows
Crimped rear dropouts: I've never had one fail on me, but that doesn't mean I'm comfortable with them
Cheap flimsy forks with no fender or rack mounts. I HAVE had these fail on me
Odd sized seatposts. Generally really small
Junk brakes

Thats not saying I dont have a few kicking around

hey vonpotter

yup this bike has lot of those issues

really short seat post cheapo forks and brakes aren't the greatest
i might change out those problem areas or add the parts to a decent frame
it does ride ok though so im still up in the air on it.

thaks for looking and have a great day
