college towns and bikes

I just noticed that a $35 bike is priced at $135 in a college town. Check craigslist in your area and see if I'm right.

Right you are! I have sold many Schwinn road bikes around here. I'm smack dab in the middle of it all, got Lafayette right up the road, Kokomo has 2 colleges, and only 50 miles from Indy, not to mention my fiance is from the ft. Wayne area. Perfect location for bike sales. Not a bike in Indiana I don't know about...lol

That is true, but only for "college bikes".
Here in Lawrence (Kansas University) I have good luck selling cheap 10 speeds and 70's-80's lightweights but I can't seem to sell any of my cruisers. I guess they're not hip enough. :roll:

Here in Eugene, any riding 10 speed or mixtie is $150 and up, with an instant $100 bump if they put a fixed rear on it
