Colson stretch redo

[Uncle Stretch]

I had the set of 2 1/2 '' wide rims , I had stripped and polished. I bought new black Fat Franks
for them and had nothing to put them on. I have a copy of a 1938 Colson that is stretched 7''.
I had also added a looptail rear triangle to it. I decided to stick the wheelset on that frame.
It make for a nice looking setup. Black primer paint,and shiny wheels. So still need some grips
and to hook up the shifter, but it rides perfect and looks pretty good too.

Thanks guys. This has always been a trial frame. I use it mainly to play with parts and stuff.
Its really a nice riding bike , but an old build and kinda change my style since then.
Got the shifter hooked up. Had to use the plastic roll strap on the cable....(electrical tape)

Thanks Dogdart it was one of my first scratch built stretches. Its a copy of a 1938 Colson stretched
7 inches. Its gives you a pedal forward and plenty of room. Its one of the best designs I came
up with.This one was a trial of the looptail rear triangle.
But times change and I have gone to the 1 1/2'' tubing for the bulky look.

Seems like so long ago. I bought a Colson frame from Hooch. I loved the lines but the frames were so small.
I was going to stretch that frame , but decided to just copy it in a larger form. I built 4 of them. I have 2
Steve's dad (my middle brother) has one and Tiki Harl ended up with the last one. Still my favorite builds.

Honestly I don't care for moon bars like those.. But that bike looks soo slick as it is they look really nice all the way it is.
The tires and rims look perfect for that frame by the way

Thanks Ivan. Its kinda like putting cool chrome rims on a ratty truck that is primered. Its really
the only ratty bike I have, but its really comfortable to ride and the wheels and tires make
it look nice.

Love this set up, I have a old cali loop tail frame that I thought about cutting the back off of and making it work on a old rollfast frame. Once again nice set up.

Thanks Eparsons. I had built several of this style frame. This one was only a front. Never got around
to building the rest. I bought my bender and this was an attempt to bend a one piece looptail frame.
It came out nice and I stuck it on this Colson front just to see what it would look like. I never really
did a nice paint job and have just kept the frame around to try out parts. Hope yours turns out nice.

cool old skool with great lines,suggestion time,why not drill a hole just behind the head tube,in front of seat tube then in the top of the seat stay and then near the drop out and run the gear cable internal,I havent really done this on any rat/beach/chopper builds yet,but I used to do them on road bikes with both rear brake and gear cables,even ran brake lever cables into the handle bars coming out of the stem,it seems to me you are very attatched to this bike and looks clean thus why I suggest running internal cable to keep the clean tidy look

Eparson, its doubtful that I will ever get rid of either of these. They were my first ones and I was going to get rich
quick building frames.....NOT!.

Endless this is like an old pair of shoes, really comfortable but you don't care how they look. I have never even
given it a good paint job. How it looks doesn't matter.

Here's a cruiser with an internal shift cable. It works on this one since the BB isn't in the frame tube.
