I made it out for a ride yesterday. A smooth lap around the neidghborhood at dusk in 20ish temps. The bike rode nice with exception of a bit of a rattle at the light on the front fender. It's heavy with 2 D-size batteries. Nylon bushings perhaps.

Wow, that's pretty ugly. Must have been training a new guy in tiawan... I will look again, i would think welds like that would have jumped out at me. Thanks for sharing!

wow those are awful welds. A vintage-looking leather seat and some cool grips would go along way toward making that bike look more the part. ahem.

Yeah that's not even acceptable, I cant even wrap my head around how something like that would even make it to the paint stage. I guess the key is to look the bikes over in person and pick out the best one? Not sure I'd feel ok buying one online now.

For the record the weldments on my deluxe are clean tig welds. This one is clearly mig or stick and never should have made it past the scrap pile.

Hey Kruez, if you get a chance, could you snap a pic of the fork to bottom of headtube interface. I'm trying to understand this springer, and I think that is the picture I'm needing to make sense of it in my skull

When leaning into the front end on this bike, the assembly/part of the fork that attaches to the top of spring travels with the wheel and stays dimensionally constant with the pavement. The head tube travels downward stretching the spring. When riding over a bump, the opposite action or combination would occur. Bing!
