i got this bike with columbia firebolt as a parts bike. i thought it looked sad sitting against the shed so i thought i'd throw some parts together and see what i could make of it.

i threw on a roadmaster fork with a northern electrics headlight with a stewart warner speedo plate in it with an push button led light sticking out of the back. i took the handlebars that were on it and coated them with j b weld and stuck two old schwinn seatposts in the bar ends to extend them.

trying out different tires. the back ended up on the firebolt.

i cleaned up a set of chrome wheels i had laying out back and took off the new seat to put on an old sprung checkered flag seat i got off an atkins 20 inch. it had a pretty bad tear in it so i covered it with a postcard i got from the place i used to work - Delmar Haynes Pontiac - the postcard is from the late 60's to early 70's. when they closed the dealership i helped clean out and found about a hundred of them. i used a chainguard from a girls' spaceliner and threw on some pedals and grips and a set of uniroyal chain tires that are mint that came off of a green girls 40-something model elgin (that is in some of these pics) . . . -(and is for sale!)

You're dancing with the devil on those bars. There's a whole lot of stress and weight put on those ends, jb weld is gonna let you down in a painfull way.

The bars look cool, but I agree....find a local welder....should be a cheap job.
