My parents say i need stop spending money on my bikes so i can get a car. :x
The car i want seem allways out of my grasp, A old Volkswagen Beetle. They probably just hide from me behind a street sign or something
So i started 3 bike builds :D and this summer my money has to go to a car. :(
What kind of bike can give two years of enjoy ment, someone tell me because i need it.

To me, the most enjoyable bike is subjective. I'm a college kid, and I dont have room for lots of bikes, nor can I justify owning many. I've got my cruiser (a swing bike) and my daily rider (5 speed road bike, I'm working on updating it currently).

If I were you I'd put together one bike, get it rolling, make it 'yours'. That's the most enjoyable to me, not so much having the bike but having put yourself in it. Make something that will make sense for what a bike is to you: does it need to be a comuter? Climb hills? Look kick *ss? Ride comfortably? Once you get that rolling, you can always keep working on it. And (and I may be setting myself up for serious flack here) you could always sell the left over parts/projects to earn some money for your bug or to re-invest into your bike.

Best of luck to you man! I know sometimes I wish I had a stable full of different bikes, but sometimes the money and priority just needs to be elsewhere, and I think its a sign of maturity and wisdom to identify that :D

With all the guys on here that are VW fans I wouldn't doubt if they can help you find one at a price you can afford. I'd suggest looking for a long time and that way you can finish your bikes and then buy your car. As long as you're looking your parents should be happy.

Is Conway a pretty big city? Find someone like us who has a couple dozen bikes, and maybe borrow a bike. That way, you don't a fleet of bikes and a ton of parts to generate complaints. Maybe even keep your bikes over there and socialize. You might be able to ride a different bike every day of the week, like I do.

One accessorized shop quality mtb or road bike (how you ride? ergos?) new or used good condition, that is properly sized, as a working standby. Maintenance and minor detailing like swapping grips, tires, what have you, on a bike that rides well enough to use as basic transportation can be quite rewarding. Just a few thoughtful touches go a long way on a bike. Your other artistic "building a bike" projects can take forever and cost very little at any given moment.

In college I was into mountain bikes, they were good on campus brick, but I could leave class and hit the woods without a pit stop, lightweight to get up and down the steps into my rooms, and waterproof for days on the rack (since it rains more when you are in college than any other time).

Back then I spent $1070.00 on a new Gary Fisher Joshua X0... biggest buyers remorse of my life. Bought it my senior year, sold my Trek 7000 (which I still miss) and then got a desk job and the bike stayed parked all the time. Now, over 10 years later, I sold the Fisher about 2 years ago and picked up a used Gary Fisher Marlin for $150 that I like better than the Joshua. Then, summer last year I was given a 1950 Columbia which I built for a motor. Then I was given a '76 Murray, then a Schwinn Black Friday Krate, on now I have about 30 bikes (majority not rideable), but what I can tell you from this is that recently I've had more fun on any one of my free bikes (riding it, modifying it, making it my own) than any expensive bike I've built, plus, any 1 of my free bikes will last 2 year easily, probably 10 or 20.

Bottom like, get what will serve you well, but don't spend a bundle on it, life changes and there are plenty of $1000+ bikes sitting dusty because of a car purchase, a move, a career, an accident, whatever. Buy someone else's remorse. Cars are good for taking bikes places so you won't have to look like a tourist when you get there.
