Well...this is how it started. A $40 trike from a guy at the ocean front. Knew right away I was building a chopper out of it.
So like all good choppers...it had to have wide wheels right? I got this 17 inch mustang rims and found an issue. The pedals ended up too close to the tire. Had to make an extension. Well, I work for a ship repair company and we were cleaning out some old stuff and came across an old radar set. had these long black aluminum arms that looked like old school ladder bars. And, They fit! Gave me the distance I needed to clear the pedals. But something still wasn't right. I needed to chop the front end to get the rake it deserved. So began planning that....when I found an old OCC Chooper bike on OFFERUP for $75! PERFECT!!!! And the mustnag rims were going to be too much weight to attempt pedalling (even with the planned 750W electric midset I am planning). So, another OFFERUP ad came through with the perfect old skool rims!!!!
Absolutely stunning! That OCC frame fits perfect! There are still some major things that need to be done. the "ladder bars" need bracing. The old seat post is getting removed and a new seat post will be put back where the fender mounted (about 4" back" and the original OCC seat will be used. As you can see some adapter plates were made to adapt the old slotted mag rims to the trike axle. And some work still needs to me done on the mid axle placement. But it is slowly taking shape. I work on it intermittently during the work week. I have a shop full of ship repair experts helping me with the design aspect of it. I want to get it going before the car show season hits...and also be able to ride it down the board walk at the ocean front this summer!
