Well I did not get to do absolutely anything during the winter build off
Due to other projects that just kept popping up

So I have not gotten all the parts for what I want my main entry to be
Battle Mountain Street Roadster (B/MSR)

So for now I will be showing the build of my backup entry
Critical Mass Excise

24" mid 50's Schwinn (varsity, racer, or world)
With as many Exerciser parts as I can put on it

But that fender just does not look right to me on the front so first thing to do is install it on the rear
needs a little shimming but you get the Idea for now

Then put on the crank and sprocket
Compared to all the work when I put one of these on a cruiser frame
this required only flipping the sprocket to clear
It is almost as this bike was made for it

looks faster already

That peaked front fender looks so right on the back.

Big Schwinn exerciser sprockets ROCK.

whats the old saying
Christmas came early

For this build it sure did
My 24" chrome s-2 wheel (bought from a member on thecabe)
arrived so i had to mock it up with the exerciser disc
btw It fits the wheel best without the rubber gasket
So onto the mock up photos

and one to show how close the sprocket and disc actually come to rubbing

I was in a bit of a rush to post the mock up pics
so there is somethings that I had not mentioned

originally the rear wheel on the bike was a 24" s-5 (which is a taller wheel than a s-2)
so there was a gap when the wheel disc is mounted (therefore it had to be replaced)

the original rear had a 36 hole new departure coaster
as for the new rear s-2 it is running a 28 hole new departure
current tire for rear mock up is a duro 24 x 1.75 (to be replaced by kenda k123 24 x1.75
front tire is a 24 x 1 1/4 by kenda

I like this all ready... This one is going to be fun to watch... A cocky sprocky of a bike.Sprocket rocket.

Agreed
a pic from "Typhoon Tracker"
one of my first build on this site (also used a Schwinn exerciser sprocket)

Refreshingly different! I would need a multi-speed hub just to get it rolling.

sdframe

Actually it is not quite that bad
according to Berkshire cycle computer

A 65t main sprocket with a 22t rear and a 24 x 1.75 tire
is about the same as
A 50t main sprocket with a 19t rear and a 26 x 2.125

It just looks like it would be a lot tougher to pedal
Although I do need to find a 22t that will fit a new departure coaster

Love the concept and parts your putting together.
Looks good so far.

worked on mounting the discs to the rear wheel
Didn't need much modifying
only one side of the discs had to have the hole made wider for the sprocket
20170522_101628_zpsrqbpowb9.jpg

You can see in this pic just how much had to be removed

One other thing I was working on was weather or not to use the original fork
or go with a springer since part of one came off the exerciser
However after seeing how much modifying would be requires
I came up with another idea (so stay tuned)

Whatever you have planned I'm sure it will be better than stock. That fork is ok cuz it's og but it's also kinda boring... especially after seeing the rest of the build. Digging the drivetrain so far.

Carl.

I dig roadster style frames, and the one screams RAT-ROD !!
