This is a great thread guys! Awesome pics!

I have to add some more

I rode my All-Original SpaceLiner to work on Halloween dressed as a Viking, for the second year in a row.

Guess which one is mine here:

I've also commuted on my childhood bicycle. The highback sissybar is good for strapping my backpack to.

Neon is a good idea if you ride at night. http://www.RockTheBike.com

Another old pic of my StarFighter, I rode it to work today!

And this is what I rode all winter long:

I have commuted on this one (in a few different builds) on and off since 2001:

it's had a coaster, a 3-speed with shifter by the seatpost, fixed, and now brakeless fixed with more vintage parts than before. used to be covered in stickers, now showing the patina again. I've trimmed the sides of the seat since this photo.

with a change of bars and adding on a rear fender, lights and my comfy seat, this Huffy has taken the place of my MTB as my daily commuter. 10 miles round trip. the heavier cruiser makes for a smoother ride.

I envy you guys who commute! I don't because 1) Road riding way out here in the sticks surrounded by a bunch of self-righteous rednecks (drunk often as not) is ill-advisable,or just too dang far (eg-a 45 minute 4 lane drive to the closest Wallymart  8) ),and 2)I'm Mr. Mom now...so I do all the household work now :p

A couple years ago when I was driving a concrete truck for a living,it was 6 miles across a dirt roaded mtn,I rode my old Monocog (singlespeed mtn bike) setup w/ 1.5" slix, rigid fork and racks,tho...I don't miss the workforce ( :p  8) ),but I do miss that commute!

Man, you guys have me thinking about commuting... been tossing the idea around a bit lately, but I will probably wait till the heat eases off a bit. I don't want to ride home in the sun with 90+ degree temps. My commute is about 7 miles one way, easily doable. There's very few paved shoulders along the way, though... and motorists aren't exactly polite around here. Still, once it gets cooler, I may have to give it a shot! Especially once I get the chopper finished.

Here's my current beater (it has knobbies in this pic, but currently has 1.5" street tires on it)

Skipton: --- cool side cars did you build them? ---
Yes. I use them for work, tools in the crate, materials or finished product on top. They can easely hold 90 kg (200 lbs). And it's free advertisement for my ironwork. I get a lot of positive comments on them, mostly from women and children.
