Whatever's clever. I've been looking at those frames for a few years now. Always thought about a '70s chopper vibe with a king and queen seat, extended forks and a monster sissybar.

I changed my idea regarding paint and decided to go with something I've never done before. I thought it would be fun to do some flames, and so I taped
And then I got my rattlecans ready and sprayed
For my first try I gotta say I'm pretty happy with the results

Thanks, but i wasnt really happy. I only had the flames on the very front of the frame. So i sanded it taped off more flames... Everywhere, except the stays. This should be fun

I bought this springer for $5 at a swap with nothing planned for it at the time. I couldnt pass it up, although it did have some homemade etchings on it
and
they would be pretty cool if they did both sides i think, but not like this.

but with a little bit of sanding and a couple touches of a wire wheel on my drill and I got a cool brushed metal effect. I like it.

Had to do the sissy bar to match.
and brushed out the rims to the same finish
The brushed look is cool!

Thanks, i followed that up with wiping on some boiled linseed oil so the metal should stay protected
I love, love, LOVE flamejobs!
So after painting sanding and repeating I finally got it ready. I even assembled it and took it to cyclefest. Unfortunately, it caught quite a nasty gash on the top tube. So I cut it off with a razorblade and saw this as an opportunity to learn more about painting flames. So i sanded, taped, and painted some more. Then I started wet sanding to reveal the layers underneath. I think Im starting to really like this dimensional flame paint job.
I even blended the razorblade slices in seamlessly with the flame.
