Re: Das German

but why "Das German" when it's a Steyr from Austria? Does it have metric screws?
If you need some parts maybe I could help out with shipping the stuff.

it has some other parts like the crank, pedals, kickstand and handle bars that say made in Germany. But you're right though the rest is from Austria. I changed the name to fit it. lol :D

you're crazy :D
maybe I can find a similar steyr around here and have a look if there are also german parts used.

no I don't, but since there are the olypmic rings on the sticker, I could imagine that it was built in some year when the olypic games took place in Austria. But I'm really not sure at all.

it seems that cman is right, '68 was the last year those hubs where embossed with the year of built.
does the front rim and the rear rim fit together? if they do, they can be assumed to be original and the bike should be from 68, too.
the correct name of the bike is Steyr Waffenrad. It's got the name Waffenrad because the company Steyr was specialised in producing weapons (= Waffen; bike=Rad / Fahrrad) when founded.
