This isn't my main choice for the build off but seeing as how I haven't yet chosen what to build and I planned on getting this built because of the summer Olympics this year it's going to be a good backup build

I have had this trek frame before in a multi speed but it had issues
I also had planned with the original frame to build it up as a demonstration bike for an idea I had to make a bicycle racing series that was mostly based on the little 500 race from Indiana (see film breaking away)
Back then I had about 75% of everything figured out
It wasn't till I saw the past winter Olympics with the mass start speed skating that the final 25% could be figured out and this the flame to build it was reignited
So I present to you oval trek

Frame = aluminum (similar look to the frames that the lil 500 used from 51-53 Schwinn cruiser and 54 - roughly late 60s roadmaster cruiser

Glad you were able to use your secret decoder ring to determine that you need to "Be Sure To Ride More Oval Trek"

Glad to see you back in it! Those Trek cruisers were pretty cool, came in all sorts of '50s colors and a few different configurations. We sold a bunch from 2004 - 2009 at the shop I managed. The bi-weekly car show right in front of the store on main street drew a lot of attention to the matching bikes and the '50s rods and customs. I delivered a number of bikes on Sundays after the Sat night show. Nobody wanted to scratch their vintage hot rod hauling a bike home!

Looking forward to your take on this! RaT oN~!

Two rules concerning the bb that the little 500 has since it's inception
Only one piece cranks and cage bearing only (no loose or sealed types)
I decided to abandon the one piece crank only rule
It opens up the opportunity to use many more frames
However I kept the cage bearing only rule
From what I have seen majority of bb cranks have cage bearing versions

I want to use the lightest rotational weight that utilizes cage bearing
This shows

2 of my 3 options
1000000519.jpg

Option 1 (not shown)
Is the standard euro bb crank with tapered square ends

2nd option (on the right)
These came off a Shimano front freewheel system for a euro bb

Final option
Euro bb BMX spindle that I pulled off a kustom kruiser bike (see pic below)

Will need to weigh all 3
I may not go with the lightest if it turns out too much modification is required
Depends on weight difference between

This is the frame I pulled the euro BMX spindle from
Originally bought frame for the springer

Currently selling frame only in southern California
Might be willing to ship if someone is that interested

I know I have been away for a bit trying to find certain parts for the trek build
I also was able to come up with an idea for my main build

Donkey Kong

I plan to turn this Schwinn pixie into a cross between a donkey bike
And a muscle bike

Here is a rough mock up
1st with a 24" Schwinn s-5
2nd has a 26" Schwinn s-7

And here is a side beside pick of the 24" Schwinn s-5 (547)
And a Schwinn s-7 (571) 26"
For reference a standard 26 s-2 Schwinn is a (559)

Howzit going in donkeyland?

Donkey Kong Nintendo GIF

I picked up a free 12" bike a while back and have been trying every possible combination to make the donkey bike as short as possible
However I cannot get it under the 4 ft length
I truly think to make it a donkey bike I need to be no longer than 3 1/2 foot in lenght
There is only one way I can think to do that
So I may end up moving it into the unrestricted division and go back to focusing on the trek
Here are a just a few pics I took while doing all my various mock ups
