As if I didn't have enough on already, I asked my 9 year old if he wanted us to build a new bike for the upcoming car show. Of course the reply was yes :D . He won the lowrider section last year and is keen to have another go this year. I know this isn't really a lowrider, but the organisers are pretty flexible and will accept most bikes. We had a look around the net for some pics and he liked a lot of the lowered and raked frames we saw, so...........my first cut and hack!! Didn't take any before or during pics because I started cutting then got carried away.....it all happened in a couple of hours last night.
Started out as a $10 garage sale Bratz bike. I cut a couple of inches out of the top of the seat stays and dropped it lower, then chopped off the head tube and added a bit of rake. My son will pick the colour and work out what parts he wants to use, sand the frame for painting and clean and fit all the parts and pack bearings etc. I'll do the painting and check all the nuts and bolts to make sure everything is OK.

This one had a springer on it, but we liked the look of the straight fork better after the rake job.

Re: Dropped and Raked

nice job. just a thought. cut the tabs for the front wheel alittle higher so the front tire is closer to the upper fork. that would be really nice, i think.

Outlaw :)

Awesome, that looks really good, with a laid back seat post a big guy could ride that bad boy. I had a chance to pic that same bike up local a while back for 20 bucks, yours makes me wish I had, dang it!!

Re: Dropped and Raked - "Ripjaw"

We ran out of time and good painting weather to finish this bike as planned, but got a coat of red oxide primer on it for the show. Both my son and I like it, so it may even stay this colour.
Here's a couple of pics I took this morning after the set-up. I'll post some better pics after the car show. Ripjaw is the name my son came up with.
