Dye Banana ?

Has anyone tried to dye or paint a banana seat ?

Yes. It wore off but I ride mine daily. I'd suggest re-upholstering it.

I've recovered it with leather and died the leather. Probably easier to just recover.

I tried! -My goal was to make a seat look like a vintage English Chesterfield couch…. It ended up looking more like a bug stinger or something!

I'd also say recover. But not with fake fur stuff like I did. It was just like dog hair everywhere. I'm about to do two seats in fabric of some kind.

I'd it has an upper and lower pan, it's pretty easy to recover. Add some better foam while you're at it.

Yeah, those faux fur options are tooo shaggy. Might travel better with a buzz cut.

I wound up covering them in fabric, camo and tiger for a pair of play bikes.

Those were crappy seats to start with, but had a good amount of padding. A decent seat with a base and pan would be much better. Those are just a stamped piece of metal with jagged protrusions to hold the fabric.
The play bikes still haven't been ridden except to test ride, we've been busy with other things and it's already hot and humid here, springtime has long gone.

That factory padding deters regular riding. After a while they're painful. I've found adding 4 inches to be just about right at a rider weight of almost 13 stone.

I've also found thicker "fabrics" like marine vinyl surprisingly easier to work with than thinner. These got fabric backing so they work well with simple adhesives.

I used purple metallic spray paint on faux yellow suede. Fake leopard didn't work as well as the tiger.
