i saw a few people having problems with ape hangers stripping out on another site and saw they would weld them to the stem as a fix. i was surprised no one had ever tried this old school bmx fix. i stripped many handlebars in the 80s and early mid 90s. take a soda can cut the top and bottom off so that the middle of the can is as wide as the part of the bars were it goes on the stem then cut one side like your going top to bottom (that should wrap around the bars twice) and wrap the bars and tighten the stem back up and your good to go. all my ape hangers end up with DR Pepper can wraps. hope this helps out some one down the road.
