Kustom Kreator gave me a parts bike with a NICE 4 digit combo lock wrapped around its frame. Its not stolen.

Any tips on how to pick it?...yeah I've been on YouTube to try to see how its done...

Id like to save it for one of my nice bikes.

the old school combo locks were easy, just pull them tight and start at the furthest # from the side that frees from the lock. you should be able to feel a little slip when youve got the right #, move to the next # and repeat.

at least thats how the old ones i had in the 80s worked ... or um .... unworked

not that i stole alot of bikes as a kid, but i did borrow my brothers/dads bike and forgot the magic #'s all the time.

Which part of the frame is it wrapped around? Sometimes a partial dis-assembly will free it; I looked and pondered at my old Columbia and its lock for twenty minutes until I realized all that had to be done was remove the seat.

i dunno man, maybe you should just plead the fifth......... :D

Those old barrel locks are the easiest. We used to have contests at the bike shop to see who could pick it the fastest. I think the record was something like 12 seconds. Like CCR said "just pull them tight and start at the furthest #". For everything else just find something to cut it.

I had a junior high school teacher tell me that kids were always forgetting their combinations for the locks on their lockers, and he had a little thin stip of metal from a soda can that he would slip down around the notched part of the lock and open it right up - just like credit carding a door lock. He said he always did it with his back to the kid so they couldn't see how he did it.
