I just have to vent a bit. I purchased a small item from a vender on eBay, their rating should have been a clue, but it appeared they were shipping from Illinois. So being in KS I thought this would be a quick acquisition. There were other seller options shipping from China. So I was sucked into the thought I was buying in US. Anyway the item has had two USPS tracking numbers over the last month. It started out as report-ably being shipped in Illinois, the second being shipped in Illinois as well after contacting the seller several times. The sellers eBay posting now lists the destination as New Jersey. So I’m assuming that the item actually came from China on a slow boat or slow airplane.

Supposedly it is to be delivered tomorrow after an about a month.

I am having a similar experience with a set of brakes I bought from Amazon. I never even thought to look at seller reviews on Amazon. Usually things arrive in 48 hours. It has been a few weeks and the only shipping status is “Chungwa Post”

Now I am reviewing the seller feedback. Doesn’t look good. I always just assumed Amazon was Amazon.

I think there has been a huge increase in sellers gaming every system they can. ebay, amazon, etsy, poshmark, shippers, etc.

I've had several recent ebay purchases come via Amazon. Some get here really fast, some well, still waiting on some.

Looks like many Amazon Prime members are using the prime "free shipping" on all orders to offer lower prices on ebay, then they order the item for you from amazon. I open the package and find a gift receipt from the Amazon seller.

country of origin at ebay isn't always correct. That's up to the seller to specify and some just lie about it. A recent item listed as shipping from "United States" took 3 weeks. Tracking showed it came from a shipping company, probably in China, to New Jersey, then put in domestic USPS to me. 3 weeks is fast for a container ship from China to New Jersey, maybe too fast. Air freight in a huge box, then resorted and mailed? It had 2 labels, 1 to NJ, then an overlay to me. One sign it's coming from Amazon is ebay messages initiated by the seller that it's "on the way". Normally ebay sends auto messages when the tracking number is assigned at the time of postage purchase, then "out for delivery", then "delivered".

Last year I got an ebay notice an item was delivered. not. I checked the ebay supplied tracking and it showed delivered. I went to the local USPS because I know they have more detailed tracking and it showed a completely different address in town. I messaged the seller and never got a reponse. Two days later the item arrived with a completely different tracking number on the package that had no tracking history on line. It had an Amazon gift receipt in the box with an Amazon listing number. Sure enough same item for 25% less at amazon. I tried an amazon search for the same description but the new product didn't show up under the sellers name. Leads me to think there are many amazon items that aren't public. Sellers are using Amazon's services but don't allow public sales.

I've recently started adding a line in my ebay for sale items that I'm a real seller and ship from my home town. No fake store fronts. All my items are what you see. No stock photos from the web.

PS, number of items sold by a seller are a hint too. Just a few items with less than 100% rating is usually someone selling without a clue. First time sellers are usually a disaster.

Become more common. Always look for the country of shipment origin. They veil it pretty well sometimes to get you on the hook hoping most people won’t pursue a refund
The vender post said from Elk Grove Village, IL. So my assumption is they are an unethical eBay seller. The communication was all broken English.

Your comments ring a bell. I’ve had a couple delivered messages in past which then showed up later involving Amazon, USPS and UPS.
Two of local goto bike shops have closed recently. So I find myself scrounging parts from eBay. I’ve been grumpy for a long time, just ramping it up lately. Now it looks as though we’ll get price increases due to imposed tariffs.

I can agree that "it isn't how it used to be" which is frustrating. I used to use ebay for everything, had good sales and purchases. Now you really dont know who or what you are going to get. Scamazon has infiltrated into every aspect of our lives, and it really sucks.
Case in point, I purchased some doo dad on ebay, the seller looked legit. Week later the item arrives, in scamazon packaging, on a scamazon truck.
Literally WTF? I went to ebay to avoid that, and hopefully help a smaller seller. All I could do was complain in the feedback, which I still read but wonder if anyone does any more?
Cancelled the scamazon account for good, the ease of ordering was a drug. Which landed a bunch of junk in my house to get rid of, and really blasted up my credit card. When I totalled up all the purchases I've made over the years, could of bought a vintage Willys Wagon, and completely rebuilt it with some change...
Sorry for the rant.
