Very cool to score one still in the box. They're super solid bikes. Must have felt great cutting all those zip ties and setting it free!
I'm impressed with it so far. It sure did feel good to set it free of its confines
It's coming along nicely. I would use a 2 speed hub with coaster brake and avoid cables and shifter.

Awesome hub but shifting mechanism can be annoyingly sensitive at first but you get accustomed to it quickly.
I run one on my Colson with 42/23 sprockets for easy cruising and bombing around town plus less stress on my 55 year old knees.
I like that idea. I have a three speed coaster shimano, but the cable would junk up the clean look.
I use a Sturmey Archer S2C kickback hub like JA331 has on his Colson, but the vintage hubs made by Bendix work well if they are in good shape. They have 3 yellow or red bands on the hub shell.
A company named Eagle started making reproductions of the Bendix yellow band hubs recently. I'm not sure where to find one, maybe Ebay.
I also use a Sram Automatix 2 speed but it shifts automatically up and down at about 10-12 mph, with the other hubs you need you to pedal back to shift. You don't need to think about shifting with the Sram hub. Mine isn't the coaster version, but they are still in stock at some shops even though they quit making them a few years ago.
If the bike with a kickback hub is the only bike you ride, the shifting becomes natural and easy. Otherwise it might be a nuisance.

I Agree I love my kickbacks the sram is great once you get use to it
The Sram works well on different size wheels also. I've used them on 20" and 26". The speed is what shifts it, not the gearing on the bike.
There is one way a Sram is manual. In high gear as you slow down, if you keep pushing the pedals it doesn't drop back into low.

I ended up going for the three speed shimano as It was in stock. Added a short stub of old handlebar, under the seat to hold the shifter.
The red rims and white walls add some Hot Rod flavour to the matt black frame.

Recently restored my Sachs front drum, laced it into an old school Araya 650b rim today. I Painted the rim charcoal metallic to match in with the Electra decals.
Fitted up a WTB 27.5 x 2.3 Vigilante to finish it off.
Keen to get the shuttle on the local trails and shred some down hill sections with the drum/ coaster combo
