I've been 'Christmas list' shopping and wondered if the Electra experts could answer some questions I have.

I have a 'standard' Electra saddle on this bike:

I really like the feel of this seat, but want something wider with a lower profile for my next build. I was looking at the Hellbilly XL (it's leather I believe), but also like the 'Low Profile' unit available on several models.

Anyone have any experience with the XL or LP saddles. Also, does anyone know where I can buy an LP model? It's not for sale on their website.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,
Dr. T

Dr T, My Flying Sue has an XL saddle that I find very comfortable. It is indeed wide and low. - actually sort of reminds me of a tractor seat. You won’t be disappointed if you go with one.

Just an FYI that none of the LP Electra saddles are real leather, but they are very comfortable.
I have two Electra LP saddles, one from the Ghostrider (same as Hellbilly) and one from the Vince.
They are identical except for the look of the top.
You can probably have your local Electra dealer special order one for you.
If not, they are available from many sites online as well as Amazon and eBay.
Most Electra spring saddles have a really annoying squeak at first, but a few drops of lubricating oil around the nut that holds the bottom 'rails' onto the underside of the front will fix that.

The LP seat on my wife's Super D is leather. My HB and RS seats are not. And yes, I think the Electra LP seats (Made by Velo) are about the best looking current production cruiser seats, and they are comfortable, and supportive.
