Elgin 12" Racer and a 'Now Toasted' Sandwich to Go!

I've had my eye on this table top 12" Elgin Racer for a few months and was finally able to meet up with the seller yesterday.
This is upon arrival, pre bath and pending blo.

The day prior I picked up this FB Marketplace sandwich style find that could surely use it's hull, deck and rutter varnished.

I aired it up, replaced the chain and took it for a scoot around the block.
It's a sporty riding short wheel based 26" 39 pound bike that should be fun to have around.
Ideas of a some day Tobacco Burst finish and or adding a few Speed Holes have already crossed my mind as has the idea Japanese burning technique with the name that eludes me.

Thanks King, it will be fun to play with some fun ratty ideas to use for a knob.
The trike also features a factory coil sprung rear deck to my surprise.
This is the only tricycle that I have and it will be kept with my twin 20,30 sumthin rat forever.
It might be fun to find a couple of wheel sets to play with on this cherished relic for fun. (Of course I'd keep the original wheels/wares bagged and tagged if such an occurrence actually happened.)

That's the name I was looking for when I mentioned the Japanese Wood burning technique.
I think I've found my new favourite thing!
I may have gone a little light on the wire brushing, but I'm pleased with the outcome.
IDK if it might be possible to take more char off if I chose to.
I'm treating with coats of BLO.

The Elgin got a good scrubbing and BLO treatment as well.

My most recent find was this old gator skull that might serve as a headlight shell on the wooden bike.

Well, this Toasted Sandwich is ready To Go!

I finished up reassembly and took the bike out for a quick burn around the block.
I will say it rides like a son of a Birch...or is that Son of a Beach and was also actually very easy on my vintage Ash.

It's not that I ever pined fir a wood bike, but when I this one pop up, it sparked a burning infatuation and a chance to branch out a bit in my collection.

I'm also interested if there might be a splinter group on this forum for wooden bike riders?

Ferdy, U know it's not Cherry, but this is Spruced up and it's already Posted. I'm sure it will be the Apple of someone's eye. I may whittle the price a bit, but knot ready to chop it.

Yes indeedy, you can see where the ideas stemmed from and it could leave here in someone's trunk.
As soon as I seed it and that the parts were Alder, I knew I couldn't just leaf it.
