Picked these up this morning on the way to the dumps
40 or 41 Elgin with black out hubs, bummer about the fork but might be fixable, just going to flip this

My father in law picked this up for me. Kind of at a loss of words for him....... :D

HEARTBREAKER: The guy I got the first 3 from said he had a keeper in the basement, so I took a look, he didn't know anything about it other than he paid $ 2.00 at a auction for it about 20 years ago. Turned out to be a 1910 (ish) Mead Ranger with good 28" wood wheels, original tires, long spring seat, nickel plated fork. OMG was I drooling. Not for sale though so i suggested he move it from the dirt floor basement to somewhere more climate controlled.

Nice group of iron.......new finds always feel great don't they

Nice haul, Walker! The Elgin is sweet, and despite the rust (or maybe because of it), I am digging that Columbia, too. I just picked up its female counterpart the other day... not much saveable on mine either.

the Columbia with springer (pieces) is deeply rusted, I might take a wire wheel to it and see how it looks. the last 1/2" of steerer tube is broken off the fork so it may be interresting removing it.

I wish I could have come home with that Mead!

At least you came home with something! I usually find 2 bikes a YEAR  Great score by the way
