Getting ready to start on my Elgin Offroad. The idea is not exactly klunker and not exactly 26" BMX - more hybrid offroad. Anyway - here is the starting point. Probably going to be selling the crank, sprocket, pedals and bottom bracket at some point.
I'll be watching this one closely! I'm in the process of building an old Zep into a hybrid, urban klunker type thing, so I'm interested to see how you do it.
Heres 2 bikes ive built in that realm. traditional geared with canti brakes and internally geared with drum hubs. still never built a single speed version
Here are some pictures of the frame after I got it back from painting. A couple of the pictures actually show the deep gloss. Added a Schwinn quick release seat clamp. Not sure if I will keep that or go with something more showy like a Campagnolo QR clamp.
Ordered the handlebars which are supposed to be here soon.
