No it's pretty wacky it only assists by adding torq when pedaling when it senses high torq on the pedales it adds some in to ease the pedal effort does cool wheelies broke off the taillights when we tested it out!

So you don't have any direct control over the output of the motor?
 
No it's totally automatic ! works pretty good though. I thought about modding it as the motor leads come out of the conrtoler seperatly but would have needed a bit more time which I didn't have.
