yeah, it may sound warped or odd, but im really really happy to see this particular bike go. all it has given me since day one is problems and it seems that every time i rode it something went wrong.well, i got a call today from an old add asking if the bike was for sale, and when they can come see it. luckly this person knows it is rare and it will live a better life than it ever did here. ill be sad. . .at first

24" western flyer girls bike from 1939. Paid $15, tore it apart, sold it for 150 a few years later with a 24" monark, which i also hated.

I have had a couple I was glad to see go. The first was one that I subcontracted to rebuild from my powder coater. It was an early 50s girls Hawthorne that the customer wanted done in pink and black, not just pink but a God awful metallic pepto bismol pink.

The second was a '49 Monark I got from one of my local guys. I used it for my rrbbo5 build and hated it. It was plagued with frame joint issues, bad color choices, poor fork design.

It came back again for my rrbbo6 build. It didn't even get finished before I became disgusted with it again.

It is in 450redrider's possession now.

I had one that I paid too much for, spent too much time and money fixing, nothing went right, and when finished it rode poorly. I was glad to see it go.

I just flipped a bike for a member here. We worked together to get him the bike. I bought it, packed it up, and shipped it, which he happily paid for. I was glad to do it for him, but I'm not sure I'd ever ship a whole bike again. I think the toughest part is the fact that I'm working 6-10's right now, so trying to find the time to ship it was stressful. In any case, it was all worth it in the end to hookup a beautiful bike with someone who will really appreciate it, and I built a friendship on this site.

I was glad to see it go.

I've had a few....

A few years ago I was trying to sell this, a 1998 Gary Fisher Joshua X0, BIGGEST buyers remorse ever. I bought this bike my senior year of college brand new, paid $1070.00. Thinking I'd love the full suspension and I'd be riding it all the time (like I had been until this point) then I graduated, got a job and got married and this bike sat and sat. I never liked the full suspension and when our 10 year anniversary was upon me and I was out of work, I sold this bike to buy my wife an anniversary gift and had enough leftover to get me a used (but newer) Gary Fisher (hardtail).

This little guy was found in a ditch and given to me. I cleaned it up real nice and rode it around some, really liked the springer and the feel of the whole bike (minus the banana seat) but eventually realized that I wasn't the person to appreciate it. Seeing other repops go for decent money I tried and tried to sell it and the only bites I got were from states away where I'd have to ship it. Finally my sister called interested in the bike for her daughter and asked the price, I said I'd give her the family price of $50, then let her buy me a BMX saddle, seat post, and 2 tires off of Amazon that almost added up to that amount. I was happy to see it go.

Most recently I'd been trying to sell this bike, a 1989 Schwinn Prelude with an Aerospoke rear wheel. Great bike, it was given to me by a neighbor, everyone either wanted just the Aerospoke or the bike without the Aerospoke, I didn't want to end up with piece of a bike that would be even harder to sell. I had promises to buy that fell through, calls, texts, e-mails and never a commitment.

Finally I just traded for these 2 beauties, who got the better deal? I don't know, and even though the Prelude was an awesome bike, I was glad to see it gone.

In some form or another, I loved all these bikes, but sometimes it's time to go!

There was actually one bike I was happy to see go, it was my "Bootlegger bike". One of the first Rat Rods I built here. But the guy who bought it took it to the next step and motorized it so I was happy it went to a good home and could now be taken beyond what I did.

There are also MANY bikes that I bought simply to flip and make money and I am always happy to see a bike go that makes me money. Most I have never had a problem selling though because I get them cheap, fix them cheap and sell them cheap. But I'm cheap like that.

Just after I had had some heart trouble, I was feeling very much like an old frat, so I decided to get a "comfort bike" for a more leisurely riding experience. Stopped by the LBS, and bought this ugly *ss thing:

It was comfortable, all right, but was just about as exciting as a plate of cold mashed potatoes. As I got my strength back, I realized that I was in no way ready for a retirement bike. I ended up trading it to my brother so I could get back my old Dyno Moto 7 that I loaned his daughter some years before. She doesn't care about bikes at all. I fried up the Moto into the Dragonfly bike:

Now, you can't get me off the Dragonfly. It's the best rider I've ever owned, and besides, its my official "BUILT NOT BOUGHT" machine. I may have to break down and get one of those headbadges from Axsepul whenever they go into production.

I had a truley horrid 24" girls AMF Roadmaster Skyrider Deluxe a while back. I bought it for $20, thinking it was a steal with a working light tank, and 80% complete. Quite mistaken. Took me almost a year to sell the dang thing, for a measly $35. If space, inconvenience, and moving the thing around cost me any ACTUAL cash, I took a terrible loss!

now ill be honest, i didnt like the bike in question. but 22 bucks for a whole bike?! :( if you see a white jc higgins herculese out in moreno valley, know that guy got it for a steal

Long low and black 1 was the second Stretch i built...

it was one of those projects that I was happy to sell, but not because it was bad.It was just that it started with me discovering that after the build was 90% done the frame was bent, and all the hoops I had to jump through to make it right left a bad taste in my mouth so to speak. I fixed it though, and found it a good home. 8)
