Re: Fat Flyte ( Finally Painted)

Thanks for all the nice comment guys! I've been working on the fork today and I'm not real happy with the chrome on it. Pitting and chrome loss that steel wool just won't fix :x . I wanted to get some parts rechromed but the prices for chroming around here are just not in my budget right now. Maybe down the road I'll get that done but for now I'm rollin with what I got. I did mount the rims and tires tonite but I'll have to wait til tomorrow to post some outdoors pics instead of one from my cluttered flourecent lit garage

Re: Fat Flyte ( Finally Painted)

Bad to hear that. Maybe you could just polish the bad chrome area and then when it get´s shiny enough clear coat it. Just until you get the vile money to chrome.

Re: Fat Flyte ( Finally Painted)

Well, I got some pics done outside this morning. The bars aren't necessarily staying but I do like the way they look on there.

And lets not forget to give some love to the 73 year old original Star bearings. :D

Re: Fat Flyte ( Finally Painted)

Ohhh I thought those forks were a lot worse. Try giving them a clean with dish detergent and a sponge, I promise you they will shine some more

Re: Fat Flyte ( Finally Painted)

Man that is a funky frame and forks. I've seen nothing like it before. I'm starting to think that your side of the world has been spoilt for choice over the history of bicycles

looking brilliant so far, keep it up!

Just a thought...a pair of 1/2 moon bars would compliment the forks..

YES. Big, swoopy, moon bars!

The paint on this thing really is flawless. The fork really doesn't look that bad, either.

EDIT: This thing would be INSANE with a set of Shelby air flow handlebars... I can see it now, tubing flying around in every direction...

Re: Fat Flyte ( Finally Painted)

There is only one thing that could make this bike better, and that is if it were mine

Re: Fat Flyte ( Finally Painted)

Thanks guys. Haven't ridden it yet, no crank in there yet. I'm hoping to have it rideable by this weekend but not finished. Still lots to do but I'm on nights the next couple days so more updates on Friday.

Re: Fat Flyte ( Finally Painted)

I love this bike Rob. Even when I saw it all crusty and sidelined it was awesome. Can't wait to do some riding with ya on it! I believe an adult beverage or two will be had when it's ready, and it's my turn to supply :D .

Re: Fat Flyte (It's A Rider!)

Well, with this fab weather we're having this weekend and it being the long weekend (Thanksgiving for us Canucks) I got impatient today and threw some parts at the Flyte so I could ride it. The crank , pedals, saddle and stem won't be staying but they got me cruisin today. She rides like a dream! :D

I also have a new headbadge being made by Jones and Son Headbadges to depict the original. Here's a pic of the one he's copying.
