Fattest tires for 26" rim?

Hello, I have an Electra cruiser with 26x2.125 tires and was wondering if I can throw on some fatter tires like a 26x3?

I'm basically just wanting to install a fat slick tire on the rear.
recommendations (and pics) appreciated!

3" will work as long as it is ISO 559. Only one I have around here at the moment is 20" but 26" works. Here's the 20"

I put 26 x 3.0 Duros on my Dyno. New it came with 26 x 2.125. It was a close fit. Different tires with the same size may have slight width differences so it's best to check using your bike. Your chain line is another consideration for clearance. You can flip the chainwheel and/or cog to get a little extra space, if they are concave. I did that to my Emory to get stop the chain rub, used a different chainring with the 24 x 3.0 Nirve tires.

edit - Ugh...I thought you were asking if the rim would be wide enough...

I found this DT Swiss chart...it says...you're okay with pretty much anything from just under a 1" to 2" wide rim .

The only Electra I have is a steel three-bar (Eric Malone) that has a pretty huge distance between the stays. From what I've measured, it should be able to take a 3" wide tire with chainguard on. However, it has 1.5" tires on it now...but I'm putting 2.4" tires on it tomorrow..

I put 2.4" on my Electra. Plenty of room for 3" on the seat stays...

...3" would be real tight at the chain...but, if you look at the chain stays, it might be able to squeeze a 2.5" hookworm on a skinny rim...maybe...

The 26X3 Duros worked well on my 3G frames. They are slightly wider than the original 3G Boa tires that were stock and priced well. I think you'll have plenty of room with that Electra frame.
