PICK THIS LATE 50S LADIES FIRE ARROW THE OTHER DAY FOR 40$

I PLAN ON DOING A FLIPPED LADIES BIKE WITHOUT WELDING (I HAVE HAD THIS IDEA FOR SOME TIME BUT THE OTHER BIKE I BOUGHT TO DO IT WITH WAS JUST TO NICE AND COMPLETE)

I DID A SMALL AMOUNT OF MOCK UP
THIS IS THE FRONT FENDER THAT I WILL USE IN THE REAR
PRETTY KUEL HOW IT ALREADY HAS THE ROUNDED END LOOK AND THE MIDDLE FIN

HERE YOU CAN SEE THE IDEA I HAVE WITH THE WESTFIELD/COLUMBIA PREWAR CHAINGUARD THAT I THINK THE TANK MIMICS

I CAN KEEP IT ON THE CORRECT SIDE BUT THE DESIGN IS FLIPPIED COMPARED TO THE TANK OR I CAN RUN IT ON THE INCORRECT SIDE WHICH LOOKS MORE LIKE IT BELONGS BUT I NEED TO RUN A 1/2 SHAFT OR A SOUTH PAW FREEWHEEL
BTW I USED THE CHAINGUARDS MOUNTING HOLES A BASE TO LINE IT UP
MAY CHANGE LOCATION ONCE I MOUNT THE NEW BOTTOM BRACKET

Can’t wait to see your progress through the build!

Now you got me hoocked! Subscribed!

I HAVE BEEN PLAYING WITH DIFFERENT TANK AND CHAINGUARD POSITIONS
FINIALLY SETTLED ON THIS
20220531_090349.jpg

CHAINGUARD ON FLIPPED SIDE OF ORIGINAL LOCATION AND SITTING MIDWAY UP TO BETTER MATCH UP WITH THE TANK
HOWEVER THAT WILL MEAN I NEED TO RUN A 1/2 SHAFT THAT ALSO WILL CONTAIN THE LARGER SPROCKET

I WILL BE WORKING ON GETTING THE PARTS I NEED NEXT WEEK TO START BUILDING THE DRIVE SETUP
AS FOR WHY THE CRANK IS STILL ON THE FRAME WELL IT LOOKS LIKE MY NARROW WRENCH TO TAKE OFF THE PEDALS WAS ONE OF THE ITEMS STOLEN A WHILE BACK
SO I EITHER NEED TO AQUIRE A NEW ONE OR GO TO MY ONLY CO-OP IN ORANGE COUNTY

Cool design going on. This is gonna be fun!

DID MY LAST BIT OF MOCKING UP AND I THINK I HAVE A PLAN THAT WILL WORK BEST BUT 1ST I WANTED TO SHOW THE 3RD MOCK

3RD AND FINAL MOCK UP IDEA UNFORTUNATLY I DONT LIKE HOW FAR FORWARD THE CHAINGUARD HAS TO SIT

FINAL MOCKUP THAT I WILL BE WORKING WITH
YOU CAN SEE THE GREEN BAR THAT IS OVER THE BB I PLAN ON RUNING A SEAT POST INTO THE TOP BAR TO ACT AS AN ANCHOR POINT FOR THE EXERCISE FORK
IT DOESNT LOOK AS NICE AS RUNNING THE EXERCISE FORK PARRALLEL WITH THE POST BUT I HAVE MORE FREEDOM WITH SEAT PLACEMENT WITH THIS DESIGN

This is a blast to watch coming together.

DUG OUT THIS OLD COLUMBIA TANDEM PROJECT "THAT I WAS ORIGINALY GOING TO MAKE INTO A STRETCH BIKE" TO SEE IF IT HAD ANY PIECES I COULD USE ON FIRE WOMAN
20220621_120708.jpg

ABOUT THE ONLY PART I CURRENTLY THINK I CAN USE IS THE MIDDLE BRACE BARS FROM THE REAR
THEY SHOULD WORK AS A SECONDARY ATTACHEMENT POINT ON THE EXERCISE FORK
20220621_120723.jpg

NOW I JUST HAVE TO DRILL OUT AN AREA ON THE BB TO PUT IN A MAIN ATTACHMENT BAR FOR THE EXERSICE FORK
20220621_121323.jpg

I DID PLAY AROUND A BIT WITH THE TANDEM AND EXERCISE FRAME
THINKING I MAY BE ABLE TO MAKE A MENS BIKE FROM THEM USING ANOTHER FLIPPED COLUMBIA TANK
WHO KNOWS MAYBE THAT WILL BE MY CLASS 2 BUILD

ifitsfreeitsforme

neat grips on the exercise bike.

YEAH I AGREE THEY ARE RATHER NEAT GRIPS
THE TANDEM HAD THE SAME GRIPS ON IT AS WELL
HOWEVER I PLAN ON USING EITHER WHITE OR RED GRIPS FOR THIS PARTICULAR BIKE BUT MAYBE ON ANOTHER BUILD

ALSO WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE COLUMBIA KICKSTAND TOO

ALSO PICKED UP THESE WHITE RIMS AT THE POMONA CAR SWAP MEET
IT WAS END NEAR END OF THE SHIW AND I BOUGHT A REAR SCHWINN WHEEL AND HE THREW THEM IN FOR FREE
THEY MAY FIND THEIR WAY ONTO FIRE WOMAN
OR I MAY GO WITH CHROME
NOT SURE YET

Some crafty joinering going on there!

BEEN WORKING ON FIGURING OUT THE GEAR RATIO SET UP BEFORE I GOT TO FAR INTO THE BUILD
AFTER GOING ON A NUMBER OF WEBSITES TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO CALCULATE COMPUND GEAR RATIO I BELIVE I HAVE FIGURED OUT WHAT WILL WORK
I USED THIS SITE TO DOUBLE CHECK MY CALCULATIONS https://evolventdesign.com/pages/gear-ratio-calculator
FROM WHAT I HAVE DETERMINED
1ST SPROCKET WILL BE 40T
2ND SPROCKET ON TANDAM COASTER WILL BE 18T
3RD SPROCKET ON TANDAM WILL BE 48T (THE FIRE ARROWS ORIGINAL SPROCKET)
REAR SPROCKET WILL BE 39T

THAT SHOULD BE VERY CLOSE TO RUNNING A 50/18 ON A STANDARD 26" BIKE

I KNOW ITS VERY HARD TO TELL BUT THE BEARING CONE THAT THE COASTER ARM ATTACHES TO WAS A BIT TO BIG (ORIGINAL VERSION ON LOWER COASTER)
I SWAPPED A 28 HOLE RED BAND COASTER ARM BEARING CONE WHICH HAD A BIT NARROW DIAMETER
IT IS ON THE UPPER COASTER
20220802_112045.jpg

NOW I AM ABLE TO PRESS ON THE ORIGINAL 48T SPROCKET TO THE TANDAM COASTER
JUST NEED TO RUN A BOLT BETEEN THE 2 SO THEY WILL ROTATE CORRECTLY
