I picked this 47 Huffman with a Yale badge from fuzzyktu here on the for sale section. Most of the work was done with tips from this site.

I tore it down and stripped the frame.

The fork had a slight bend and I straightened it using a hydraulic jack and wood blocks on my trailer hitch.

I stripped, painted, relaced with stainless steel spokes and trued the rims. Sheldon Brown and Hugos tutorials made this easy.

So I stripped the paint and polished it

I hope to have it together as a roller this weekend. I still have lots of parts to clean, remove rust and polish. I am still unsure if I want to attempt to recover the seat, I will decide after I have a chance to clean it up and see what condition it is in.

Re: First Project

Looking good, if it had been two days later that one would have been at my house, doe was low for me when she popped up.

I will probably use different bars, these are from my old typhoon.
I had some mini apes that I was going to use, but I bought a Wally World bike for my daughter and she didn't like the bars on it so she batted her eyes and I gave her mine. I also removed all the decals at her request.

I have the seat in pieces cleaned the leather and painted all the parts. I will use this for short rides (no padding) and buy a more comfortable seat for longer rides. I also bobbed the rear fender and painted it, I will install when compleatly cured. I will probably do the same with the front but am unsure if I want a front fender. My next project will be straightning and body work on the chain guard and painting, again I am still not sure if I want to install it.

Anyone know of a pinstriper in San Jose? I would like to have the transitions between colors done.

Re: First Project

Here it is, almost complete.

I tried out the bobbed rear fender and really did not like the look.
I will probably go fenderless or look for a nice set of chrome or painted fenders.
I will be picking up some 13" schwinn mini apes this afternoon to try out.

Nice job, bike turned out great.
