Fisher CR-7 Ground-Up Restoration

This build was a 'from the ground, up' restoration of a former mountain bike I had raced and ridden from 1990 - '95. The iconic Fisher CR-7 was a ground breaker in combining two dissimilar metals using the vertically compliant steel for the rear triangle and the front fork, with a laterally stiff aluminum main triangle. The rear is bolted onto the main frame. This bike was voted one of the top ten innovative mountain bikes of the first generation, 1985 - '95.

The bike rides like a dream! I have enjoyed my 'ride down memory dirt trail' during the building, and now the riding, of this vintage mountain bike. Thanks for joining me on this ride!

I have a Greek high end mtb,that needs a complete re-do,I had sarted with a grey frame and purple accents, so now I will continue as I like the outcome. I do have a choice to sand down and make it chrome...? But well done.

Yeah, except for the low hanging branches and encroaching itchy weeds this time of year. We are very green this year with lots of rain and heat and humidity. So the trails are really narrow as a result.

I've always said the stuff you encounter on the trails in AZ is either hard or sharp, or both!

Good looking revival...nice Fisher, he’d probably love it.
Makes me want to get my Schwinn MoabS out and clean it up, replace some parts and ride it again. It started my bike addiction fray back in ‘95.

Thanks Ed! I am going to send Gary a couple photos and maybe a link to the build thread. He's always so stoked to hear about another Fisher 'on the trail again'. Hope you do get the Moab S down off the wall. Put some riser bars on it and ride!
