I picked this up recently. It's badged "Flying Scot," but I believe it's made by Raleigh.

Dumped the fenders, chainguard and twist shifter. Gave it a paint job and added thumb shifter, two-tone chain, mt. bike bars, truss rods, used cruiser seat, long seat post, drop center Sturmey Archer 3-speed wheel set, new pedals, tires and grips.
 
I usually dislike and remove reflectors, but that big thing on the front wheel is pretty interesting. Also, what's up with the axle bolts? Looks fancy, but can't make out the details.
 
That's a big ol' reflector from the '80s. The wheels came of an '80s Raleigh, and the axle bolts are flat-topped acorns with a Raleigh "R" in the center. I'm with you, I usually remove them, too, but in this case . . .
