Must be low end, found a peugeot mtb this last week and it had a brooks seat on it. Was ecstatic until I realized it didn't seem to be the real deal.

I didn't realize they had made seats like this, seems 80s ish. Anyone know anything anout them?

I like it. It looks like it has a nice swooped seat pan shape which I prefer. Well I and my backside. Since it's rubber and not leather look at it as one less thing to maintain.

Being vinyl/rubber and in the vegas area, and whatever chemicals the previous owner(s) put on it has made it a bit tacky to the touch

Brooks made a few seats like this in the early 80's. I have seen 3 different version. Coil spring, loop spring and no spring which mirror their leather saddles. The loop spring version came on the 1982 Schwinn Sidewinder.

That's to bad it has become tacky feeling like that. I would probably put a cloth cover over the old rubber cover and do a cutout in the back so the Brooks logo would show. Then stitch around the cutout with maybe some colored thread to make it pop a bit. Just a quick fix idea. If you don't want it to melt out there in Vegas send it Illinois. I'd be more than happy to put it on a bike and ride it.:)

I've got a big 6' roll alligator print cloth backed vinyl to make a new tonneau cover for the car, I was thinking a good scuff job on the seat and some gorilla glue to stick it on with.
