Loaded up and headed to the Fruita Fat Tire Fest, picked up a friend and about to leave Denver. Got my mtb, and higgins with me, and my girls old school Hardrock with some knobbies! Finally convinced her to try some mtb riding. Will have some pics of our rides, and some of the demo rides manufacturers will have on hand. Hope you all enjoy the report! Will update if I and when I have cell service.

Rolled away from the setting up for the festivities to do a quick lap on PBR in the 18rd trails network.

Rode the Grand Junction lunch loops and the Ribbon yesterday. After making breakfast at the fest and meeting up with a few friends, we went out and pedalled all morning. Fun trail, rolling down a giant white slab of rock for a couple miles, was a blast! My friend has his gopro with him, and we got some footage, may be uploaded in a week or so...

Squirrel, that Spot Mayhem looks interesting. 27.5 plus bike? How did your friend like it? Beautiful scenery shots! Gotta get to Fruita one of these years...
 
He said he loves it. He currently rides a Niner Jet9 i believe, and said the Mayhem is insane, only 3 in existence right now is what the rep was saying.

Rode the 18rd trails today. Went up Prime Cut to Zippity Do Da, had a brew at the top as it was a fairly easy trail for my abilities, and the last ride on during a great weekend out in Fruita for the Fat Tire Fest!

Was a great trip! Fun to ride with a couple great friends, on some sweet trails. I unfortunately did not race the Higgins in the klunker crit, was busy at our booth in the afternoon. But I did ride some trails that have been on my bucket list for some time, and we did fairly well at the festival! Camp saturday night was like a burning man gathering for mtn bikers. I didnt get many shots of the new rides, figure those pics are better suited for mtbr or pinkbike or whatever... Will be heading back next year for sure!

Love the Fruita MTB-ing. The riding scene there has also "come of age" in terms of an MTB destination with a lot of technical singletrack. Looks like you had snow and cold temps 1st., then mud, then perfect tacky conditions. Classic spring conditions. Bet it was busy!
That Santa Cruz is a sweet carbon 27.5-er ride. They make great bikes. Drink any beer at camp SH? 6 per day minimum when camping...:thumbsup: Have you ever ridden the San Rafael Swell near Temple Mountain before? (5-miles of He../Green, Blue,Red trails?)

Plenty of brew was had! Conditions were near perfect for riding, mostly, kinda cold and windy but the trails were perfect. Not too dusty thanks to the rain thursday morning. Have not ridden San Rafael, farthest west I have been is Moab. Want to get down to Sedona next year for the FTF there in February, will be travelling all ove CO this season, Durango is next for the Iron Horse Classic.
