Hi guys,

I have started building a 'garden roof' with three walls right now and would like to share the process.
We will place an antique stove in there for some cooking in the winter.

I planned 90% of the project and the rest is freestyle/solve on the go.

The logs are made from chestnut and the roof frame is pine (douglas).

Some planning pictures:

Logs for the frame.

Haha are those wax crayons for your blueprints? Dad life!
Yes sir, you see through everthing

After two days of hard work:

Drilling holes for the poles.

This way, I also checked if the logs end was straight enough for the foundation threads.

Ready for the first one.

Soon more! Thanks for checking out!

Hi guys,

Had a third and a half days progress.
Roof beams are mounted. One beam (the longest) had cracks from shrinkage and I could not leave it on there, so I replaced it with a better one.

Section for the roof is coming together!

The left beam is tough, but is not clean cut in the factory. Luckily the roof will cover this.
Since the screws are countersunk, I used a little sheeps wax (don't know if that is the right pronounciation) in the holes. Fluid film asr1. Line seed oil with epdm rubber is a bad combo and a no no.

These sections have a 45 degree cut, with another angle that goes with the roof. Quite the cutting job, but worth it.

Can't wait to build bikes underneath this roof. Will probably have some arguments with the wife, but I have a whole forum with polls backing me so.... what can go wrong?

That is true. My wife is great. We bought a cheap woodstove to place underneath this shed. She wants to be more outside with the kids and cook while doing so. Braised meat from a local farm :crazy2::heart:

Internet forum vs wife, I know how this one ends.
Bart loses
:forum:

this is cool!
Thanks!

Did some work on the lower edges of the walls. Made of stone to keep the wood dry.

No sparks, but a lot of dust. My hair felt really good too, I think the dust improved it.
